How Not to Reinvent the Wheel — Accelerating your Design Science project with existing knowledge
This PDW, led by Raymond Opdenakker, demonstrates how to ground design science research (DSR) in accumulated knowledge instead of starting from scratch. Participants learn practical ways to identify and reuse existing design principles from prior DSR and adapt them to their own contexts. The session also introduces the CAMO logic—Context–Agent–Mechanism–Outcome—to translate insights from traditional studies into grounded, testable design principles for new solution concepts.
Key takeaways
-
How to locate and tailor existing design principles from prior DSR.
-
How to apply the CAMO logic to derive testable design principles from empirical research.
