The Promise of Design Science as a Research Approach: Sharing Ideas and Building Community

Entrepreneurship scholars are increasingly embracing design science (DS). Rooted in Herbert Simon’s The Sciences of the Artificial (1996), DS aims at developing rigorous instrumental knowledge guiding (entrepreneurial) action. The aim of this pre-conference session is to share DS ideas and to build connections within the growing entrepreneurship DS community. Three outstanding DS scholars will share their perspectives on the promise of DS research, how to conduct impactful DS, and how to publish DS in the best journals. After each short insight presentation (10-15 min), we will have an open Q&A session to discuss ideas and best practices with all participants (10-15 min). As part of this session, Henrik Berglund will introduce Journal of Business Venturing’s new sister journal: Journal of Business Venturing Design and Georges Romme will discuss novel publishing opportunities for entrepreneurship DS in Technovation.
